Negative Calories - Weight Loss Update, 4-24-06
It's another week gone, and guess what? Yes, another two pounds gone. I started 3 weeks ago at 220, and I'm down to 214. I guess eating negative calorie foods even in small amounts does help. Let me give you an idea of what I've been eating to lose this weight.
Breakfast: Usually a bowl of cereal (preferably something without a lot of sugar), or a bowl of oatmeal, or some yogurt. I usually also drink a glass of orange juice.
Snack: At 10:00 AM or so, I usually have a snack of either carrots or tomatoes (both negative calorie foods). 5-6 pieces of carrot, or about 6-9 grape tomatoes.
Lunch: Half of a tuna sandwich, a couple of cookies (gotta have something sweet), an apple, and a 5.5oz can of fruit juice (with no sugar added).
Snack: Another snack at 3:00, some more fruit. Grapes, or some frozen fruit... peaches, strawberries, or pineapple are good.
Dinner: 3-4 ounces of meat, some mashed potatoes, salad, and some corn.
So far, this seems to be working. If I just add some more negative calorie foods to the diet, and start exercising like I should, the weight should come off even faster.

Hi,
I just came across your blogger and read this article. Al I can say is that I don't agree with your diet, especially with your meals schedule.
You see, I had some problems with my weight, too. Or better to say, I have them when I don't stick to my way of eating.
When I was still a teenager I could eat anything it came into my sight and gain no weight. When I came into ma late twenties I just started to gain weight. I didn't know what to do, I was exercising and all that stuff, but it didn't work. And then one day, when I was talking to my grandmother, she gave me the best recipe to lose weight.
She told me that what I'm doing wrong is my meals schedule. And then she remembered me of an old Slovenian saying (I'm from Slovenia): "Take a breakfast like a king, a lunch like a gentleman and a dinner like a beggar."
Well, I gave it a try and it worked. Nowadays I can eat anything, it doesn't matter how much fat it has or how sweet it is (I like sweets, I like strong food - check my blog My Cooking Hobby ). I'm turning 40 this year and I keep my weight between 150 and 156 lbs (70 - 73 kg) at my body highet of 172 cm (67.7 inch). I don't exercise a lot, actually I'm quite lazy. And when I had my periodical health screening this January the doctor said he hasn't seen such a good health indicators for quite some time.
To put it in a short way:
- I have a strong breakfast (i. e. 3 eggs fried on a pork's fat or cracklings, big cup of "natural" milk, which I take each second day at nearby farmer, and 2 or 3 pieces of bread). As I'm a working person, I have it at 6 a.m.
- I have a normal lunch (soup, main dish, some fruits or sweets) at 12 o'clock - not too much, just to feel normaly fed (remember the saying)
- and for dinner - NOTHING. my body doesn't need to work during my sleeptime - it needs to rest.
And that's it - no snacks (OK, maybe sometimes, something sweet or salted), a lot of water or non-sweetened herbal tea to drink (at least 1 L per day) and some exercise hear or there (walking, running or bycicling).
Oh yes, I forgot something. I try to keep away from artificial food - I prefer natural one, cooked at home. Especially I try to keep away from margarine and homogenized milk - I switched to olive oil, pork fat, pure natural butter and fresh milk directly from the cow. And believe it or not, my cholesterol is doing just great.
